This is the website of Old Alabama Rails, an organization whose mission is to recreate a living experience of Alabama transportation, economic and sociological history by development of a multi-use railpark, research center and excursion program on the restored site of the historic Western Railway of Alabama car and engine shops in north Montgomery, and to link important historic sites in Montgomery and Selma by rail.

Herein, you will find central Alabama railroad histories, route maps, photographs by renowned photographers as well as snapshots by former railroad employees, stories, a modelers forum, and a detailed description of the Old Alabama Rails master plan. Please enjoy your visit, let us know what you think, and join in supporting our efforts to make a project important to Southeastern railroad history happen.

Below, you will find notice of the most recent updates to our site.
