The forty-two acre Western Railway of Alabama yards lie less than three-quarters of a mile from the heart of downtown Montgomery, easily accessible from both Interstates 65 and 85. CSX, the current owners have made public their intent to sell the property. OAR is committed to acquiring development rights to the site by outright purchase or under a long term lease with the City, should the City acquire the property. Discretion over the site is fundamental to project development. To that end OAR has entered into dialogues with both the City and the owners and has embarked on a planning study to describe and illustrate the character and components of the project it currently envisions.
